Sophie Schulpen on her way to American International College

Sophie Schulpen will hop on the plane this summer to Springfield (MA) to study and play hockey at American International College.  The main task of the 18-year old attacker will be scoring goals. Looking at her track record of previous years in MHC Woerden’s jersey, she is the right player for the job.

American International College’s field hockey team, the Yellow Jackets, have had a rough season last year. With only 2 wins in 18 games, the Yellow Jackets had a hard time to compete in their conference. However, with Sophie added to her roster, Coach Rhonnie Peters brought in a key player to become successful again in the Northeast-10 conference next season.

Apart from playing field hockey, Sophie will be in the classroom focusing to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Health Management at AIC. American International College is a university with approximately 2,000 students located in Springfield, Massachusetts. A city with over 150,000 residents and located about 90 miles west of Boston.

Busy times ahead, as she will be traveling to away games in Pennsylvania, New York and New Hampshire. We wish her all the best on this journey. Of course, we continue to follow her and share her experiences.
