Roel van Linschoten is the newest transfer of Olivet Nazarene University from Bourbonnais IL. The youth player of VV Gemert U-19 will travel to the US in August 2016 to reïnforce the ONU Tigers.
The Beek en Donk native started playing soccer at the local soccer club Sparta’25. His talent didn’t go unnoticed and he soon transferred to the youth academy of professional soccer club PSV Eindhoven. Roel played in every PSV Eindhoven youth teams from the U-7 up. He became National Champions on more than one occasion and won multiple Dutch national cups. Unfortunately his adventure at PSV Eindhoven came to an end after 7 years and Roel transferred to VV Gemert U-19. After 1 year at VV Gemert Roel will make the transfer of his young life; to the ONU Tigers in the NAIA Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
18-year old Van Linschoten is a physically strong defender with a lot of playing skill in him. He can also be positioned on the midfield as a defensive midfield player. Coach David Blahnik is very exited about signing Van Linschoten: “Roel has proven himself at top level. He has played and performed at the highest possible level and played a great number of international tournaments. His experience will be of great use to us. With him will be able to control the game from the back. I’m very exited with his transfer!”
After obtaining his VWO diploma Roel will move from Beek en Donk to Bourbonnais, a suburb of Chicago, where he is going to be living on the Olivet Nazarene University Campus. Van Linschoten is looking forward to his transfer and can’t wait to wear the bright purple ONU jersey.
