Dream comes true for Heidi Homburg, next stop Florida!

Heidi Homburg will say her goodbyes to rainy Holland soon and continue her academic and athletic career on the white beaches of Florida. The volleyball player has signed a deal with Daytona State College, where she will start once graduating from Higher General Secondary Education. Combined with her study Heidi will be part of the volleyball team, which plays in the Mid-Florida Conference.

After trying out multiple sports Heidi started playing volleyball at the age of ten. In six years’ time Heidi managed to reach the highest youth level at her club Compaen. In the 2014-2015 season Heidi received an invite to the International Children Games, which only happens to the biggest talents in Europe. After a few intense training days coaches selected eight players out of the 80 which participated to compete in the tournament. After Heidi survived the cut convincingly she practiced for three months with the team in order to prepare for the prestigious tournament, where Heidi and her team were crowned champions after a very tense final.

After achieving this huge success at the International Children Games Heidi switched to the U18 side of Compaen. After a strong campaign, where she continued to impresses with her attacking power and excellent blocking, Heidi made her debut for the first team, playing at the second highest level in the Netherlands. It comes to no surprise that Heidi made more appearances for the first team the season after her debut, as well as playing for the second team occasionally. Even though Heidi had still one year of eligibility left for the U18’s, the two coaches of the first team, Veikko Hansen and Ralf Muijs, included her in the 2017-2018 first team selection.

Besides playing volleyball Heidi will also have a lot of time to explore Daytona Beach, just a stone throw away from her college. Check out this wonderful video about these incredible shores:

KingsTalent is convinced Heidi will strengthen the Falcons and would like to wish her all the best at this wonderfully based college!
