This summer, Simon Libert will make the move to Jacksonville University. After years of competing at both national and international levels within Belgian football, a new challenge awaits him in the United States.
Simon began playing soccer at the age of four at his local club and continued developing through CS Visé and RFC Liège before joining the youth academy of KAS Eupen, a top-tier Belgian club. There, his progress was rapid, earning him the captain’s armband for both the U16 and U17 squads. His talent caught the attention of national selectors, resulting in call-ups to the Belgian U17 and U19 national teams. With these teams, Simon competed in high-level international tournaments in Belarus and Japan. At just sixteen years old, he played for KAS Eupen’s U21 team and later joined Dutch side MVV Maastricht. Over the past two seasons, he featured for the senior teams of RRC Stockay and RFCU La Calamine in Belgium.
Known as a “quiet force,” Simon is praised for his calm demeanor and sense of responsibility. On and off the field, he is supportive and a strong communicator. A natural leader, he motivates and coaches those around him. His team-first mindset, paired with his tactical awareness and composure, make him a reliable and intelligent center back.
Jacksonville University, located in Florida, offers a competitive sports environment where Simon is expected to thrive. He will join the Men’s Soccer team in the Atlantic Sun Conference, competing against teams like Bellarmine University and Lipscomb University. The Dolphins are gaining a tactically sharp defender with exceptional passing ability, two-footed control, and excellent game vision. With Simon’s arrival, Jacksonville aims to strengthen its squad and pursue new goals.
